The SJT-15 tool lanyard addresses a risk often overlooked in work at height: the tool that slips from the hand and falls on someone below. One end fastens to the tool through the slider loop, and the other connects to the harness or belt with a 4.6 x 60 mm screw-gate hook. Between them, the elastic webbing extends as the worker reaches out and retracts on its own when released, so it neither hangs loose nor snags on the structure. Its orange color makes it easy to locate at a glance.
Two points deserve precision before assigning it. First, this accessory secures tools, not people: it is not fall arrest equipment and must never be used as such. Second, its load capacity is 5 lbs, so it suits light hand tools — wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers — and not heavy equipment, which requires higher-capacity lanyards. Always verify the actual weight of the tool before connecting it, check the condition of the webbing and the screw gate before each shift, and remove it from use if it shows wear, cuts or loss of elasticity.
