The SG-5400 long split leather welding glove is manufactured from double-oiled cowhide split leather, a tanning process that increases flexibility and resistance to heat-induced desiccation compared to standard split leather, significantly extending the glove’s service life in continuous welding operations. Its kevlar thread stitching is the model’s most relevant technical differentiator: kevlar withstands temperatures far beyond what conventional thread can handle, preventing seam failure under prolonged exposure to sparks and radiant heat — a common failure point in lower-specification welding gloves. Additionally, the quilted inner lining absorbs transmitted heat and reduces thermal fatigue in the hand during extended shifts.
The SG-5400’s bound seams eliminate exposed edges that cause internal irritation and premature wear, while the wide safety cuff protects the wrist and forearm from spark projections characteristic of MIG, TIG and arc welding processes. Its flexible, water-resistant double-oiled split leather construction maintains the manual dexterity needed for part positioning and electrode handling.
